The International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) is a pivotal international maritime treaty that establishes minimum safety standards for the construction, equipment, and operation of merchant ships. Originally adopted in 1914 following the Titanic disaster, the convention has undergone several revisions, with the current version being the 1974 SOLAS Convention, which entered into force in 1980. The SOLAS Consolidated Edition 2024 presents a unified text of the 1974 Convention, its 1988 Protocol, and all amendments effective as of July 1, 2024. This edition also includes unified interpretations of SOLAS regulations approved by the Maritime Safety Committee.
